While we all have our favourite social media platforms, some are easier to run day to day than others. Potential clients often ask how to improve your Instagram engagement without spending a small fortune on ads – there’s no big secret, just some simple rules to follow.
Here the CCF Media social media whizz kids have pulled together their top five (simple to execute) ways you can grow your Instagram following and improve engagement without parting with wads of cash. We also understand that running multiple social accounts can be both tiring and time consuming, so if you’d like an informal conversation about social media get in touch.
The importance of consistency cannot be stressed enough. If you want to improve your Instagram engagement and build a following that really value what you have to offer, make sure you’re being consistent with your message and your posts.
Post regularly and nurture your account. You can’t post a grid post with no caption once a month with no call to action and expect results and in turn more customers. Post often and add value – maybe offer regular tips or advice; start a team member of the week series; tell your followers about your brand. Say it with us – be consistent.
People who follow you want to be in your atmosphere – so offer them a true insight into your brand/business. Yes, of course we show our best selves online, but being authentic and clear in your identity and brand really matters.
What are your values? What is your goal or key message to your followers? When followers realise an account has value and integrity they’ll automatically be more inclined to engage with and share your content.
If you want engagement you need to be engaging. This all comes back to adding value. When you post (whether that be to the grid, reels, IGTV or your stories) make sure you’re following up with comments. Someone’s gone out of their way to leave a comment – the least we can do is like it, better yet reply to it. Start a conversation!
Ideally, being engaging means asking and answering questions. Start including a ‘call to action’ within your captions; that could be asking a question or encouraging people to DM you.
There’s nothing worse than following an Instagram account that’s spammy, annoying or out of touch. Be aware of what you’re posting, how often and when. Commenting a reply to a potential customer that showed interest is great, but don’t bombard them or pressure them.
The key to a successful Instagram accounts is keeping it fluid and making sure you’re aware. As an example, look at what’s in the news today and react accordingly – if it’s not an ideal time to post take a step back and approach it differently. A little bit more awareness on social media platforms can only be a good thing.
At the end of the day, in business social media is a tool to reach potential followers and connect with customers. You have to stand out. If you want to improve your Instagram engagement and follower count you need to be BOLD – make a statement and stand out from the crowd.
Instagram is a very noisy platform with lots of competitors all vying for your potential customers attention – why should they listen to you? What makes you special? Knowing your brand identity and creating an industry-specific, leading voice is important and it makes a massive difference.
